Awards to USA K-12 educators, administrators, and school staff members to recognize outstanding efforts to positively impact the lives of students. Nominations are accepted for educators and employees in public, charter, and private schools. The purpose of the program is to honor teachers and staff who exemplify excellence, positive influence, and leadership.

LifeChanger of the Year is an annual program recognizing K-12 educators and school employees across the country. The program celebrates those who are making a significant difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership. To be considered for a LifeChanger of the Year award, nominees must:

Make a positive impact in the lives of students
Enhance their school or district’s atmosphere, culture, and pride
Demonstrate exemplary leadership at the school and/or district level
Possess a proven record of professional excellence
Show commitment to building a nurturing environment that supports learning
Adhere to the highest moral and ethical standards

LifeChanger Awards

LifeChanger Spotlight Award: Given to a LifeChanger in a specific discipline each year. For the 2020-21 school year, this award will be given to a LifeChanger who has done an outstanding job of transitioning to a remote learning model during the COVID-19 pandemic.
LifeChanger Capstone Award: Given to a LifeChanger who’s retiring at the end of the 2019-20 school year
Honor Roll: Recognizing the strongest LifeChangers in a particular nomination period who didn't make the top 15.

Potential awards are given with the expectation that they will be used towards educational purposes.

Estimated Size of Grant:

- Grand Prize Winner: $10,000 to be split between a $5,000 individual cash award and a $5,000 donation to the winner’s school/district
- Grand Prize Finalists: $5,000 to be split between a $2,500 individual cash award and a $2,500 donation to the winner’s school/district
- LifeChanger Awards: $3,000 to be split between a $1,500 individual cash award and a $1,500 donation to the winner’s school/district
- LifeChanger Spirit Award: $5,000 to be split between a $2,500 individual cash award and a $2,500 donation to the winner’s school/district
- LifeChanger Spotlight Award: $5,000 to be split between a $2,500 individual cash award and a $2,500 donation to the winner’s school/district
- LifeChanger Capstone Award: $3,000 to be split between a $1,500 individual cash award and a $1,500 donation to the winner’s school/district
- Honor Roll: $50 Visa gift card to the nominee, as well as some surprise goodies

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nominee must be a K-12 educator, teacher, administrator, or any member of a school’s staff who makes a positive difference in the lives of students. The LifeChanger of the Year Awards will be granted without regard to race, gender, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.

All K-12 public, private, and charter school or school district employees are eligible for LifeChanger of the Year. LifeChangers are teachers, principals, administrators, nurses, custodians, cooks, librarians, bus drivers, parent liaisons, coaches, superintendents, and counselors, just to name a few! They are the people in schools who are making a positive difference for students.

Nominees must be a legal resident of one of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements described in the official rules. Nominees must be K-12 educators, teachers, administrators, or any member of a school’s staff at the time of nomination.

Employees of National Life Group are not eligible to be a nominee, award winner, or award recipient, but may nominate a non-employee, including a family member.

Anyone - including administrators - can nominate up to three educators per academic year for LifeChanger of the Year. Students are also welcome to submit nominations, but must have the support of an adult if under the age of 18.

Pre-Application Information:

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020-2021 Program.

- Nominations for the Capstone Award close June 5, 2020.
- Nominations for the Spotlight Award close October 2020, exact date to be determined.
- Nominations for all other awards close on December 31st, 2020.

The following schedule is a rough outline of when winners will be selected:

- August 2020 - Capstone Award
- Fall 2020 - Spotlight Award
- February-April 2021 - all remaining awards

If your LifeChanger is selected as a winner, you will be contacted before they are surprised at their school.

LifeChangers can be nominated more than once, as long as they're still working in a K-12 school or district.
