Grants to New York nonprofit organizations, churches, schools, and government entities for projects that benefit local residents in eligible regions. A Letter of Inquiry is required prior to submitting a full application. Funding is intended for programs in the areas of arts and culture, education, youth, health and wellness, seniors, human services, community improvement and development, preservation and restoration of local history, and local tourism. This grant program must provide a benefit to residents of Niagara County, with special regard given to Eastern Niagara County.

The Grigg Lewis Foundation will consider multi-year grants.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Grigg Lewis Foundation makes grants only to tax-exempt organizations with 501(c)3 classifications from the Internal Revenue Service. Churches, Schools, and governmental entities are eligible for grant funding.

The Foundation does not provide direct aid to individuals (including scholarships). The Foundation does not make donations to religious causes other than those supported by Mrs. Lewis during her lifetime.

Although there may be exceptions, the requesting charity organization should not be supported by tax dollars or other ready sources of income.

Charities must have a clear mandate and purpose. Charities must have clear leadership. Charities must be willing to provide reports covering the operation of the programs for which the grants are paid.

The requesting organizations must be well organized with a successful track record. Start-up programs will be subject to a thorough examination of their feasibility and must supply a business plan.

Funds may not be used to influence public election, voter registration, to carry on propaganda or attempt to influence legislation.

- Application Deadline: November 6, 2020
- Board Meeting Dates: December 17, 2020

The Grigg Lewis Foundation will encourage challenge or matching grants.

Applicants must allow at least 2 weeks between the LOI and the application deadline in order to give staff ample time to research the project and be sure there are funds available during the current quarter to entertain the request.

After your initial LOI is reviewed, you will be sent a letter inviting you to submit a full application, or you will receive a letter of declination.

An application will be emailed to you. All applications should be submitted electronically, via the website, or via email.

Please do not apply without an invitation by the Foundation, or your application may be immediately declined.
