SCHOLARS PROGRAM SUPPORT RURAL, HIGH ACHEIVING, FIRST GENERATION STUDENTS WITH FUNDING AND RESOURCES NEEDED TO GRADUATE FROM A FOUR YEAR COLLEGE THAT MEETS THEIR POTENTIAL. PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE GUIDANCE TO SCHOLARS AND THEIR FAMILIES DURING COLLEGE SEARCH AND APPLICATION PROCESS. PROGRAM WILL ADVISE PARENTS AND STUDENTS ON COLLEGE SELECTION DECISION AND HELP NAVIGATE FINANCIAL AID AWARDS. SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS WILL RECEIVE UP TO $15,000 PER YEAR FOR FOUR YEARS TOWARD COST OF ATTENDANCE AT AN ACCREDITED U.S. COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. WHILE IN COLLEGE, PROGRAM WILL ADVISE AND SUPPORT SCHOLARS SO THEY STAY IN SCHOOL AND REACH THEIR GOAL OF A COLLEGE DEGREE. IN ADDITION, PROGRAM WILL WORK WITH PARTNER HIGH SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND RESOURCES IN ORDER TO ENHANCE EXISTING PROGRAMS.

We did large feedings in public areas, feeding nutritious meals to 400 people each week. We also ran a school there for 6 months. In Rishikesh, India, we feed a nutritious meal to 250 people each day, and distribute large bags of basic groceries to widows and other women in need. We also run a school we created for poor girls, "Shakti School of Arts for Girls", where classes in English, the arts, yoga and basic computer skills are given for free. Uniforms, medical checkups and 2 nutritious meals a day are also included. We are also provide ongoing medical support for a woman in Venezuela cancer, and are supporting an elderly couple in Rishikesh.
