Grants of $75,000 to New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut institutions to support breast cancer surgery fellowships for doctors. Funding is intended to improve outcomes and the quality of life for individuals with breast cancer. Eligible fellowship participants have successfully completed a general surgery residency at a US medical center.

The mission of the Breast Cancer Alliance is to improve survival rates and quality of life for those impacted by breast cancer through better prevention, early detection, treatment, and cure. To promote these goals, the Alliance invests in innovative research, breast surgery fellowships, regional education, dignified support, and screening for the underserved.

Term of Contract:

The term of the Breast Surgical Fellowship is one year, from August 1 through July 31.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Institutions making an application for the 2021 award must have an established breast fellowship program, be Society of Surgical Oncology accredited for a minimum of two years, and be located in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut.

All applicants must be US citizens, be an MD, and have successfully completed a general surgery residency at a US medical center.

No more than one applicant will be accepted per institution and no more than one fellowship will be awarded to any individual SSO accredited institution.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are due on or before December 1, 2021. Applicants will be notified by e-mail no later than mid-February 2022 of the decision regarding their proposals.

In these extraordinary times, Breast Cancer Alliance aims to be realistic regarding their 2021 grant capacity. While Breast Cancer Alliance cannot guarantee this calendar cycle allows for the breadth of grants previously funded, it remains steadfast in their support of breast surgery fellowships.
