Term of Contract:

Funding will not be provided for multi-year grants, nor for projects completed before January, 2021. The Foundation does not support projects retroactively.

- Public art

- Promotion of under-recognized/emerging artistic practice
*The Foundation’s grants to educational and academic institutions are for direct program expenses only; as such, no part of such a grant can be used for overhead or indirect costs.

Funding will not be provided for the following:
- Grants to individuals
- Capital campaigns and building projects
- Endowment funds
- Scholarships or fellowships
- Fundraising activities
- Staff positions
- Multi-year grants or projects completed before January, 2021. The Foundation does not support projects retroactively.
* Please note that the Foundation does not support projects retroactively. Grant monies can be applied to salaries but the Foundation will not be the sole supporter of any staff position.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for requests for 2021 grants will be November 20, 2020. Applicants will be notified about the Foundation’s decision in February, 2021.

For project support, the Foundation’s recent policy has been to match funds, requiring that applicants demonstrate they have raised (or, a plan to raise) at least half of the project costs.

First-time applicants are encouraged to apply for project support rather than general operating funds. Once an organization has received a project grant, applications for general operating support in the following year have been welcome. It is recommended that general operating support requests do not exceed ten percent of overall operating costs.

There are two main stages in the application process to apply for funding from The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation. In the first stage, you will need to fulfill the eligibility requirements to apply. In the second stage, you will need to complete the online application form and upload the requested additional materials.
