Grants of up to $15,000 to New York municipalities in eligible regions to enhance and develop local communities. Funding is intended to support the care and maintenance of public spaces, enhance code enforcement, and to engage in environmental stewardship. Grants may be used to hire seasonal personnel, or for direct project costs, such as material, equipment, and contracted services in Sullivan County. New or ongoing projects that align with the Sullivan Renaissance mission are eligible.

Applications may be submitted for projects in one or more of the following areas:

  • Caring for Public Spaces: Materials and labor to maintain existing public spaces and/or to create new gardens, parks or landscape installations.
  • Enhancing Code Enforcement: This may include hiring seasonal personnel or consultants, developing new codes and land use regulations or developing innovative incentive programs to address graffiti, blight, dilapidated buildings or other eyesores.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Municipal projects that will benefit the environment, such as tree planting, stream bank stabilization, and green infrastructure.

A Renaissance 101 Grant Workshop will be held on February 5, 2020, at 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM.

Sullivan Renaissance Staff will be on-hand to review grant options and answer your questions. Anyone seeking a 2020 Sullivan Renaissance Grant is encouraged to attend. This is a free event.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2020.

Applicants will be notified within approximately 30 days of receipt of a completed application whether funding has been approved.

Sullivan Renaissance staff are available to assist and answer questions at any time during the process.

A dollar for dollar match is required in the form of funds, in-kind, or donated goods and services.

All approved municipal projects will have the option to participate in a judging process during the first weekend of August. Any municipality that opts into the judging process is eligible to receive a second round of grant awards (Phase II grants) at the Sullivan Renaissance Awards Ceremony. All projects (judged and non-judged) must be completed and documentation (photos and receipts) submitted to Sullivan Renaissance no later than October 1, 2020.
