Grants starting at $50,000 to USA libraries, educational institutions, hospitals, and clinics in multiple states for innovative projects. Funding is intended to support capital projects, equipment purchases, and educational endowments, as well as initiatives to improve healthcare. Eligible states include Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

The Foundation will support projects in the following fields:

1. Libraries: Grant applications will generally support resource endowments (print, film, electronic database, speakers/workshops) capital construction and innovative equipment. Projects fostering broader public access to global information sources utilizing collaborative efforts, pioneering technologies and equipment are encouraged.

2. Educational Institutions - Grants to universities, colleges and secondary schools will generally support:

{a} Educational endowments to fund scholarships based solely on educational achievements, leadership and academic ability of the student,
{b} Endowments to support fellowships and teaching chairs for educators who confine their activities primarily to classroom instruction in the liberal arts, mathematics and the sciences during the academic year, and
{c} Erection or endowment of buildings, wings of or additions to buildings, and equipment for educational purposes.

3. Hospitals and Clinic grants will generally support:

{a} A new health need,
{b} An improvement in the quality of health care, or
{c} Reduced health costs with better patient outcomes

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant applications will be considered for major expenditures generally between $50,000 and $100,000 and greater or lesser amounts in certain circumstances.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Foundation will provides grants only to institutions/organizations which are tax-exempt and publicly-supported under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Except for endowed positions, applications for direct salary support will not be accepted.

Generally, no grant will be considered that is to support a research project.

Pre-Application Information:

The application period for grant requests is February 1, 2019 through May 31, 2019.

Two copies of the application and the one copy of the supporting documentation must be completed and postmarked no later than 44 days after requesting the online application, or by the last day of the application period, whichever comes first. It is strongly suggested to collect the required information before you request an application, as you will only have 45 days or less to submit your documentation once you request an application. Requests made after April 17th must be postmarked by May 31st.

If the applicant receives a Second Round Grant Questionnaire, it indicates that the Foundation is seriously considering the applicant's application and will require submission of additional documents. (However, receiving a second round grant questionnaire does not guarantee approval and funding of the application.)

Grant applications generally will be considered where:
- Outside funding for the project (including governmental) is not available.
- The project will be largely funded by the grant unless the grant request covers a discrete component of a larger project.
