Funding is intended to support programs in media such as music, theater, the arts, and literature in Berkshire County, Massachusetts; Columbia and Northeast Dutchess Counties in New York; and Northwest Litchfield County, Connecticut.

The Wassermann-Streit Y’DIYAH (Y’DIYAH is Hebrew for “learning”) Memorial Fund will support quality non-doctrinaire materials and projects that serve to educate about the heritage, history, customs and culture of traditional Judaism through music, arts, literature, theater, etc. Preference will be given to material and programs that most closely fulfill the goals of the Fund and reach out to the broadest-based community. All requests that fulfill the Fund’s goals, limited only by ingenuity and imagination, will be fully considered.

These might comprise: literature, humor, theater, discourse, music, art, cinema, exhibits, history, etc., and are limited only by the imagination of the applicant.

Its goal is to exemplify the universality inherent in all people, according each, and in respect for, the variety of differences in ethnicity or practices which inform their humanity without falsification, harm or distortion.

Awards are granted to:

- Facilitate knowledge and understanding of the history, culture and practice of traditional Judaism, with the broadest-based community in mind.
